Boonton council approves EMS fundraiser and consent agenda; residents press for leaf pickup and meter upgrades

The Boonton Mayor and Town Council approved a request from Boonton Volunteer EMS to hold a coin/toss fundraising event Dec. 13–14, contingent on completing required paperwork; the motion passed with one recorded opposing vote.
The council also opened and approved the consent agenda (Resolutions 25-263 through 25-273). A council member highlighted progress on the town’s planned pickleball court as part of consent-agenda business.
During the public-comment portion, a Ward One resident at 217 Crown Road urged additional leaf pickups after the second scheduled round left material on streets. Councilors said they would add the request to the DPW agenda and follow up.
Jamie Janis raised concerns about recent holiday parking rules being applied to 12-hour meters (previously limited to two-hour meters) and reported that many meters are not functioning. Council members said the town has issued an RFP for parking-system upgrades but that responses have not been directly comparable; they said they have asked vendors for additional information. Officials also reminded residents that a parking app can be used when a meter is physically nonfunctional.
