Boonton council appoints Danielle Casone to fill vacant second-ward seat

The Boonton Mayor and Town Council appointed Danielle Casone to a vacant second-ward seat from names submitted by the local Democratic committee and immediately administered the oath of office following a roll-call vote.
The Boonton Mayor and Town Council on Nov. 18 appointed Danielle Casone to fill a council vacancy created by the resignation of Jay Ketrick.
Council members said the Boonton Democratic County Committee provided three nominees — Danielle Casone, Amanda Deni and Richard Corkran — and a motion to appoint Casone was moved, seconded and approved by roll-call vote. After the vote the council administered the oath of office; Casone recited, “I, Danielle Casone, do solemnly swear that I will support the Constitution of the United States … and that I will impartially and justly perform all the duties of the office of second ward council member.”
The appointment fills a council seat left open by the resignation the council acknowledged earlier in the meeting. Councilors did not record conditions attached to the appointment during the meeting. The town clerk confirmed the required paperwork will be completed following the vote.
The council conducted the appointment during the early portion of its regular agenda and then proceeded to other ceremonial and administrative business.
