Adrian Main Street DDA adds three new board members and emphasizes governance, fundraising and committee oversight

The Downtown Adrian Main Street DDA on March 18 welcomed three newly appointed board members and signaled a renewed focus on governance, fundraising and clearer financial controls.
Acting Chair said the board had intentionally sought candidates with financial, budgeting and community relationship strengths and introduced Melissa Jodis (assigned to the organization committee), Christina Lewis (economic vitality committee) and Shane Wilson (design committee). The chair framed the appointments as part of a broader effort to strengthen governance and fiduciary oversight following a budget review; the board also affirmed that committee decisions must come to the full board for approval.
Committee reports at the meeting highlighted priorities for the spring and summer: promotions committee outlined themed First Friday events, a farmers market manager hire and cross-organization collaborations; organization committee described a donor solicitation spreadsheet to support fundraising (including the fireworks effort); and design committee said it would focus on a mural project and window coverings for vacant storefronts and monitor remaining grant funds tied to vibrancy and MEDC programs. Kate reported that the Match on Main (MEEDC) reimbursement grant — up to $25,000 for eligible downtown businesses — had applications open through March 27 at 5:00 p.m.
Don Taylor, speaking during public comment on behalf of Artalicious, thanked the board and staff for support and clarified that Artalicious had not requested DDA funds; he urged continued partnership between the DDA and local arts organizations. The board closed by scheduling a special budget meeting for March 26 to finalize the FY2026–27 budget and to continue fundraising outreach.
