Town Manager Chris Collie said the committee is intended to educate volunteers about town finances and infrastructure needs and to produce recommendations on project priorities and funding approaches. "We're looking into forming a committee of 10 citizens…to help us talk through proposals and possible funding mechanisms and impacts to taxpayers," Collie said.
Council members discussed outreach and selection mechanics: create a short fact sheet or flyer, post a signup link on the town website and distribute notices via the town newsletter and community partners. Council members suggested confirming committee membership at the April council meeting and holding an initial meeting before the end of the ski season when feasible, with a July check-in during the design phase.
Members emphasized narrowly scoping the committee to avoid repeating past efforts that produced broad, expensive proposals. Several council members said the committee should help test community appetite for funding mechanisms, including bonds or rate changes, and provide grounded feedback before council decisions.
Staff committed to preparing an informational one‑pager and an online signup that will be shared with lodging partners and residents; the council directed staff to return recommended membership to the April meeting for public confirmation.
