Roswell honors Navy veteran Taylor Davis; fire department names officers of the year

At its Feb. 23 meeting Roswell's mayor and council recognized Navy veteran and city employee Taylor Davis and presented Fire Department awards to Lieutenant Pardinas and Battalion Chief Gary Stack. The council also approved the consent agenda and scheduled a closed session for March 9.
Mayor Mary Robisho opened the Feb. 23 meeting by recognizing Petty Officer Taylor Davis, a United States Navy veteran and Roswell recreation employee, for his military service and community contributions. "I don't think about the things I've done but the people and this country that I've proudly served," Davis said after being presented with a mayoral proclamation.
The council then heard from the fire chief, who presented B-shift awards. Lieutenant Pardinas was named Fire Officer of the Year for leadership, mentorship and strong work ethic; Battalion Chief Gary Stack was named Chief Officer of the Year in recognition of steady operational oversight and stepping into interim leadership when needed. The chief emphasized that these awards are selected by peers within the department.
The council approved the consent agenda without speakers present and later scheduled a closed session at 5:30 p.m. on March 9, 2026, to discuss personnel, litigation and/or real estate. Council Member Jennifer Philippy moved to set the closed session date and Council Member Erin Brumley seconded; the motion passed unanimously.
The meeting proceeded to the regular agenda item on the Chering dredging assistance application, which the council accepted; that matter and its public comments are covered in a separate report.
