At the June 10 meeting the Yucaipa‑Calimesa Joint Unified School District board held a public hearing on the proposed 2025–26 Local Control and Accountability Plan (LCAP). A district presenter summarized a plan organized around six goals, telling the board the district LCAP budget is roughly $18 million with an additional about $425,000 in equity multiplier funds targeted to high‑non‑stability schools.
The presenter said the district included student voice as a required element of plan development and described an extensive stakeholder process—surveys, parent advisory and English Learner advisory committees, teacher and classified staff input—used between fall and May to refine goals. “There are different educational partners that Mr. Kirkland actually helped me with this year,” the presenter said, noting site teams and administrators contributed to goal refinement.
Goal‑level highlights included:
• Goal 1 (instruction): the largest allocation (more than $11 million) supports 13 actions such as expanded arts education, career technical education, library/media staffing and supports for credits earned outside the regular school day.
• Goal 2 (emotional and physical safety): actions include bilingual liaisons, counselors and positive behavioral interventions intended to reduce chronic absenteeism; the district reported a 26% drop in chronic absenteeism last year.
• Goals 5 and 6 (site equity multipliers): Green Valley and Oak View detailed site plans funded by equity multiplier dollars to increase family outreach, provide halftime community liaisons, expand counseling, and offer college and career exposure for newcomers and refugee students.
Green Valley’s Mr. Tucci described a halftime community liaison hired to shorten gaps between families and the school, targeted outreach to increase attendance and additional staff development to support MTSS and PBIS. Oak View’s site speaker described onboarding, home visits and cultural enrichment events funded through equity multiplier allocations.
The hearing closed with the board scheduled to consider final adoption next week. No formal board action on the LCAP occurred during the hearing itself; next procedural steps are additional review and a vote at the June 17 meeting.
