Torrance Unified names Sandy Soi chief educational technology officer, effective July 1, 2025

The Torrance Unified School District board approved the appointment of Sandy Soi as the district’s chief educational technology and information service officer, effective July 1, 2025. The board announced the hire during its open session and described Soi’s prior roles in Beverly Hills Union School District and earlier experience as an elementary principal, assistant principal and career and technical education teacher.

Soi, introduced by board leadership, said she was honored to join Torrance Unified and to bring more than 20 years of experience in education to the role. “I’m truly honored and excited to be a part of your community with this well‑respected district,” Soi said, adding that she believes in “the power of technology and how it can transform learning and empower our students.”

The board’s announcement included a summary of Soi’s education and experience: a bachelor of science in industrial technology from California State University, Los Angeles, and a master of arts in education administration from California State University, Long Beach. Trustees noted her leadership in instructional technology and welcomed her as part of the district team.

The appointment is effective July 1, 2025; the board did not place any conditions on the approval during the meeting. The district’s personnel materials presented Soi’s recent position as executive director of information technology at Beverly Hills Unified School District, a post she has held since 2022.

The board moved on to its other business following the announcement and Soi’s remarks, which focused on joining the district and supporting students, staff and families through technology initiatives.
