Inglewood council adopts surplus-land declaration and zoning amendment; consent calendar clears unanimously

The Inglewood City Council took several routine but consequential actions at its March 24 meeting.

The council adopted a resolution redeclaring city-owned parcels at 100 East Nutwood Street (approximately 49,600 square feet, assessor parcel numbers 4021-015-910, 4021-015-011, 4021-015-012 and 4021-015-913) as surplus land under Government Code sections 54220–54233. Staff described the parcels and recommended reestablishing them as surplus.

The council also adopted Ordinance No. 26-06 (zoning code amendment 25-00002) to modify miscellaneous regulations in chapter 12 of the Inglewood Municipal Code, including updates to public hearing notice requirements, planned assembly development requirements, removal of certain Art Deco design standards and regulation of cosmetology uses citywide. The council moved to waive further reading and adopted the ordinance by recorded vote.

Council members moved and approved the consent calendar (items 2 through 9), and the council received and filed monthly treasurer reports for the city, the Successor Agency and the Housing Authority for the month ending Dec. 31, 2025. The council also adopted a resolution giving notice of the general municipal election to be held Nov. 3, 2026.

No formal votes on the death-in-custody matter involving Brian Bostic were held at this meeting; that topic was the focus of extended public comment and council remarks.
