Board appoints members to Operations Advisory Committee, extends one term

The Palos Verdes Peninsula Unified School District board extended the term of OAC member Carlos Ortega and appointed new members to the Operations Advisory Committee on Sept. 10.
Dr. Serrano explained the vacancy and procedures for appointing up to six members at large to the committee that advises on budget, facilities and technology. After candidate presentations — including in-person speakers and pre-recorded videos — the board voted. Several applicants were selected; the board used a random selection tool to designate which appointees would serve staggered three-year terms to maintain institutional continuity.
Board members emphasized diversity of expertise and thanked all applicants. The board set the first OAC meeting for next Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. and approved the extension of Mr. Ortega’s term.
The appointments were made by board vote; language in the record shows the board approved the extension and named the selected candidates. The committee will advise the board on facilities, bond and budget items going forward.
