PAUSD reports early I‑Ready reading results and sets stretch‑growth goals for grades 1–5

Executive Director Reynolds reviewed two district progress indicators: a school‑level stretch‑growth target (45% of students below grade level meeting their stretch-growth by spring) and a classroom-level requirement that teachers create progress-monitoring plans for students two or more grade levels below standard using the Panorama tracking tool.
Teachers and principals from Duveneck Elementary described how I‑Ready, Benchmark and Orton‑Gillingham assessments inform frequent checks, small-group instruction and individualized monitoring. Principal Britney Gardner explained district structures — professional learning communities, intervention staff and cross-site collaboration — that support targeted instruction.
Public commenters and trustees asked about students with extensive support needs and how I‑Ready is used for those groups; one public speaker also noted that PAUSD’s ESRI has been cited as a model in the state’s AB 1454 literacy law. District staff said additional cohort and midyear data will be presented in winter for a fuller assessment of impacts.
No vote was required on the update; staff will return with winter and midyear results and cohort comparisons.
