Fallbrook honors staff, names new Frasier principal and recognizes county awards

At its June 10 meeting the Fallbrook Union Elementary School District recognized multiple staff and honored county awards while introducing new district hires.
Superintendent Hazel highlighted end-of-year celebrations and summer programming that will serve more than 1,100 students, including a migrant-education program and an extended-school-year program that integrates general-education students with those receiving special-education services. Hazel also noted district honors: two schools were named California Distinguished Schools and staff have secured county-level recognitions.
The board formally welcomed Maggie Taylor as the new principal of William H. Frasier Elementary School. Taylor, a Fallbrook alumna and district veteran who has served as assistant principal at Potter Junior High and May Ellis, thanked the superintendent and board and said she is "proud to lead in the community where I live."
The board presented county awards to Rolando Rojos, selected by the North Coastal Consortium as the 2025 Excellence in Special Education Teacher; and recognized staff who received the county ELO (Expanded Learning Opportunities) Shining Star awards for work in afterschool and intersession programs. The superintendent described Rojos’s rise from district student to special-education teacher and noted his contributions to student support and secondary special-education services.
Public comment during the open-session portion included Eddie Jones of the North County Fire Protection District, who thanked the district for recording and posting a May 3 wildland-fire symposium with multiple agency partners on the district YouTube channel.
The board also announced additional staffing approvals later in the meeting, including probationary reappointments for certificated staff and the employment of speech pathologist Melissa Hoy under a variable-term waiver.
