Anthony Whittington of the Parks Department introduced the group and described grassroots fundraising efforts that included fundraisers and private donations. "This check will go to buy one of the above-ground amenities whether it be a spray arch or one of the above-ground amenities for the park," Whittington said.
Whittington told the board the PACA has approximately $39,000 remaining in its fund balance that will be used for supplemental amenities such as benches and shade structures. Director Aaron Holiday asked for clarification on totals; Whittington and others said about $45,000 was raised specifically for the splash pad (some funds already used to purchase equipment) and that neighborhood fundraising across projects may total roughly $130,000–$150,000 over time.
Board members thanked PACA for its efforts. Mayor Pat McCabe and Director Karen Garcia praised the neighborhood group's long-term commitment to revitalizing the north end of town and encouraged continued community involvement. No formal vote on construction was recorded at the meeting; City staff brought the splash pad construction approval to the board's attention as an agenda item for consideration.
