Village pursues mass-notification system; Park District to speak on pool referendum

The Village Board heard updates on public-safety communications and pool funding outreach on March 17.
Chief Steve said the Village recently issued a request for proposals for a mass-notification system that would allow the village and dispatch centers to send targeted alerts via phone, text and email. "Once the system's up ... I'll plan a town hall so we can bring people out, answer questions and ... get all the information out," the chief said. The system will require residents to sign up for notifications and will allow users to choose their preferred contact methods.
On recreation, Miss Thomas reported the Park District and the pool aquatics committee will meet; a representative from Huntley Township, which passed an $18.5 million referendum that included pool funding, will speak to share experience and lessons that could inform a local referendum or other funding approach. Miss Thomas noted that prior presentations did not include operating and maintenance costs, which must be addressed in any future proposals.
