The Yukon City Council approved budget amendments (Nos. 2729) to reallocate unused administration capital-improvement funds, transfer general-fund resources to the economic development account and reassign departmental appropriations. Staff said the moves include reallocating consultant fees to support an economic-development microgrant program and do not dip into reserves.
Council then voted to accept the bid for the Yukon Freedom Fest 2026 fireworks show and award the contract to ARC Pyrochnics, Inc. for $55,000, as recommended by the parks and recreation director. Council members responded positively to plans for an extended grand finale; the award passed by recorded affirmative votes.
The council also approved an on-call snow and ice removal services contract to Schwarz Paving Company, Inc., listed at $21,880; staff explained the contract is an hourly/day-rate on-call arrangement with equipment-hour pricing and that total pay depends on storm frequency and length. The city uses on-call contractors to supplement municipal crews during large storms.
Approval of these items was made during the consent and regular agenda; council members asked clarifying questions about consultant fees and contract mechanics before voting.
