Agatha, the presenter on the 101 West Main proposal, told the Village Board on March 17 that the project has become more complicated and is taking longer than expected.
"It's a very complicated project... the idea to put the third floor we didn't expect it's going to go so long," Agatha said, adding that the team must wait for final calculations from the structural engineer before deciding whether to keep the third floor. "We're waiting for the final calculation from the structural engineer and then we're going to make our decision and then the architect can finish the project... then we can submit to the Village."
Agatha said the project has required additional specialists beyond the architect and has been delayed by scheduling and personnel issues at the engineering firm. She acknowledged parking remains unresolved: "When we submit the plans to the Village then I'm going to start looking for the possibility to find property for the parking... either we're going to buy some land or we're going to rent it."
The presenter said no formal plans have been submitted because the design keeps changing and the team prefers to deliver a final package after the structural review is complete. The board amended its agenda earlier in the meeting to hear this presentation and took no formal action on the project at this session.
Next steps: Agatha said the applicant will await the structural engineers calculations, decide whether to pursue the third floor, then complete plans for formal submission to the Village for review.
