Mayor outlines storm response, debris drop-off and city grant and billing updates

Mayor Jadwin opened the council’s official reports by thanking city crews, police officers and mutual-aid crews for storm response after recent high winds left many residents without power for 24–36 hours.

The mayor announced a temporary storm debris drop-off available this week at the city service garage, 152 Oklahoma Avenue, daily from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Residents may bring branches, leaves, wood chips and logs up to 20 inches in diameter; larger logs, soil, lumber, rocks and household trash will not be accepted. The city posted a full accepted/rejected list on Gahanna.gov and will staff the site to direct drop-off traffic.

The mayor also said the portal for the 2026 community grant program opened today to accept applications from Gahanna-based nonprofits; staff will host a virtual information session to walk applicants through guidelines and the submission process.

Separately, the city’s utility-billing portal will be updated on April 1. For security reasons, accounts currently using autopay will not be automatically migrated to the new system; customers who use autopay must re-enter account and payment information in the new portal or contact customer service for assistance. Mayor Jadwin referred residents to Gahanna.gov for more information and details about the changes.

Councilmembers during the meeting praised parks, public-works crews and the Gahanna Police Department for on-the-ground traffic and safety work during the outage and urged residents to use the temporary debris drop-off as needed.
