Minute Man leaders report rising enrollment, high special-education share and a 2.99% budget increase

Minute Man Regional School Superintendent Heidi Driscoll told a Town of Needham subcommittee on March 23 that Minute Man enrolled 657 students as of Oct. 1, with 615 coming from member towns and 42 paying tuition as out-of-district students. She said the district accepted every in-district applicant and has 178 acceptances to date for the coming year.
Driscoll said "65% of Needham students are special education students at Minute Man," and that the district's overall ninth-through-12th special-education rate is about 50 percent; she added the school's high-needs population (which includes low-income students and other classified groups) is closer to 75 percent. "That is only special education students," she said while contrasting Minute Man with Needham High School.
