House confirms judges under HJR 315 and completes joint order

The clerk reported House Resolutions 483, 484 and 485 nominating candidates for circuit court, general district court and juvenile and domestic relations district court judgeships. The chair called for further nominations and, hearing none, the chamber proceeded with block voting.
A committee appointed to count and report the vote (delegates Hope, Maldonado, and Kilgore) met and reported that the nominees "fulfilled the criteria for election," and the House recorded 96 yes votes on a procedural reading‑waiver for the counting committee's report. The clerk then read the committee's report that each set of nominees "received a majority of the votes cast by the members elected to each house" and were declared duly elected to their respective terms (eight years for circuit court judges; six years for general district and juvenile/d. & r. judges), with terms commencing on the dates specified in the resolutions.
The action concluded the joint order associated with HJR 315; the House then recessed until 5 p.m. The clerk and the enrolled resolutions will provide the official names, circuits/districts and commencement dates for the judges elected under the joint order.
The House also noted that the conference reports and other business of the morning hour had been completed and that the joint order was finished when the committee reported the votes.
