HHS tells commissioners state cut reduces consolidated homeless grant by about $1.8 million

Gina James, representing Health and Human Services, told commissioners the consolidated homeless grant contract will be amended on the consent agenda to reflect a state recoupment of unspent funds.
"This grant is a two‑year grant. As we're nearing the end of the first fiscal year in this grant, the state is sort of recouping some unspent 2026 funds from the contract," James said, and staff summarized the net reduction at about $1.8 million.
James said staff would provide any requested details about how much of the grant has been expended to date; the item was otherwise placed on the consent agenda for routine action.
