The Senior Citizens Advisory Board on April 2 approved the Feb. 5, 2026 meeting minutes and heard multiple briefings on senior services and community events.
Olga Flowers, a community program technician with the department's Health and Wellness Initiative, summarized recurring problems for seniors in Las Vegas: access to affordable health care, reliable transportation, accessible housing, social isolation, and financial limits that affect food and utilities. "These are the challenges that impact their well-being and independence," Flowers said.
Board members gave ward updates. Vice Chair Nicole Graham (Ward 1) noted a targeted free-tree distribution and said she is working with council partners on an age-friendly hospital initiative. Member David Tilser (Ward 4) announced that Metro will demonstrate its police drone system April 7 in Sun City and warned that scams targeting seniors remain "a major issue"; he also promoted Sun City's upcoming 5K/walk events and praised senior-friendly accommodations at Aviators baseball games. Member Charles Lee (Ward 5) reported construction of a new accessible entrance at the Dittle Senior Center and said a grant from the Las Vegas Raiders will cover a previously charged $10 monthly fitness-room fee for eligible participants who attend at least once per week. Member Caroline Mosine (Ward 6) thanked volunteers for recent events and promoted a Spring Fling car show (April 4) and a Night Among the Stars stargazing event (April 11) at Floyd Lamb Park.
Chair closed the meeting by urging vigilance about financial abuse of seniors, explaining that confidentiality rules limit what outside agencies can share about case outcomes and encouraging board members to gather detailed referrals for Adult Protective Services. The board set its next meeting for May 7, 2026 at 1:00 p.m.
