Meline English School’s Bulldog Bots recount First Lego League run to Everett School Committee

The Meline English School robotics team, the Bulldog Bots, presented to the Everett School Committee on Feb. 2 about advancing to the state championship after qualifying at a regional tournament. Coach Bruce Jaffy recounted the team’s season and the River qualifying tournament, saying they “did unbelievably well” and qualified for the state championship at Worcester Polytech. "We qualified for the state championships at Worester Polytech," Jaffy said.
Student presenters described coding, building and research work tied to this year’s archaeology theme, and emphasized collaboration and perseverance. "We worked on our code right until the end," a student, Logan, said, describing late efforts to fix code and adapt between matches. Students said the experience taught time management, resilience when code or runs failed, and the value of team planning.
Committee members praised students' public speaking and technical accomplishments. Vice Chair Baros and others thanked the coaches and students for representing the district at state competition; Miss Cardillo commended the students for speaking without notes. The committee excused the guests with customary thanks and returned to the regular agenda.
