Grandville school board approves laptop refresh, transportation repairs and district photography contract

The Grandville Public Schools Board of Education voted to approve three district procurement items at its regular meeting: a teacher laptop refresh, repairs at the transportation storage site, and a multi-year photography services contract.

The board approved a revised purchase of teacher laptops after administration said inventory checks reduced the recommended quantity from 500 to 450 units. The agenda initially listed 500 Dell Pro 16 laptops at a total price of $313,430 with a $5,000 allowance for cases; staff clarified the final authorization is for 450 laptops at a total purchase price of $282,587. Administration identified the 2024 bond issue as the funding source and said the district maintains a five-year refresh cycle for staff laptops and will not replace docking stations that remain serviceable.

Separately, the board authorized moving forward with repairs at a transportation-site storage facility, including replacement work on roofing, painting and a roof-deck replacement allowance for inaccessible decking. The project will be funded from sinking-fund dollars and is expected to begin around spring break with completion targeted for mid-summer.

The board also approved a multi-year district photography services agreement with Gus Photo, Inc. for the 2026–27 through 2028–29 school years after soliciting proposals from six vendors. Administration recommended Gus Photo, citing local printing capacity, a digital ID option for students, and examples of the vendor providing customer support for families after a home fire and waiving photo costs for families in need.

All three items were approved in roll-call votes with the board voting in favor of the recommended motions. The meeting then moved on to public comment and a scheduled closed session.
