San Dimas High students brief council on arts, athletics and upcoming events

Isa Martinez, executive board secretary at San Dimas High School, delivered a campus update to the San Dimas City Council on behalf of a student delegation. She highlighted recent arts and athletics achievements and upcoming events.
Martinez said drama staged its first show of the season, The Bullying Collection, and that the Royal Corps achieved a season-high score of 84.2 and earned second place in Division 6A. She noted that student Andrew Ward was selected for the Tournament of Roses Honor Band and encouraged council members to attend forthcoming performances: the advanced dance show on Nov. 21 at 7 p.m. and the choir’s winter concert on Dec. 6 at 7 p.m. “I myself attended and it was phenomenal,” Martinez said of the drama production.
On athletics, Martinez reported the football team reached the second round of CIF and will host Dana Hills on Nov. 15, and she listed undefeated league champions in tennis and volleyball and co-league champions in girls’ golf. She added that the school has ordered close to 350 AP exams for the upcoming testing season and noted a new cybersecurity course in the career technical education program. The students also promoted a dance-team fundraiser on Nov. 18 to support team activities.
The council thanked the students for the update and invited them to return with reports on winter sports next month.
