City manager updates council on transit planning, purple-pipe project and $1.75 million state funding for water infrastructure

City Manager Sheryl briefed council on a series of ongoing and upcoming projects in Tualatin during the March 23 work session.
On regional transit, she said a subcommittee including Sherwood, Lake Oswego and West Linn has begun meetings with consultants to scope a request for proposals aimed at improving transit service in the area. "We have a little subcommittee that is meeting with consultants in order to scope an RFP," she said.
Sheryl also said the city will enter a small contract with Echo Northwest to perform an economic landscape analysis and update cluster analysis to inform economic development strategy.
On water infrastructure, Sheryl summarized collaboration with Clean Water Services and described a "purple pipe" project to bring non-potable irrigation water to Community Park and Riverfront Park; she said Clean Water Services will fund bringing purple pipe to the irrigation system and staff will return with an update in spring or summer. She also announced the city has secured approximately $1.75 million in state funding for seismic valves on water tanks and that design work with engineers has started.
Sheryl reported the Neighbor Trail project is nearing completion and staff are planning when to hold an opening celebration. She also noted strong library programming and volunteer shifts supporting the poll center.
Councilors asked clarifying questions about comparables and project timing during the work session. Staff did not request immediate council action on these agenda items during the work session; updates and, where required, action items will be brought forward on future agendas.
