The Washington County Quorum Court passed an ordinance ratifying a conditional use permit (CUP) for the Gene George Communication Tower after a brief presentation and roll-call vote.
Dr. Ada summarized the project to the court: the parcel covers about 132 acres, the applicant will use a lease area roughly 70–75 feet with a secured compound of about 60 by 60 feet, and the proposed tower will be approximately 104 feet tall. Dr. Ada said the Planning Board (five members present at its Feb. 12 meeting) recommended approval and that required federal approvals had been provided; the county had not received neighbor complaints.
Justice Leming moved to suspend the rules and advance the ordinance to a third and final reading. The court then took the final vote and passed the ordinance, with the clerk calling the roll.
The ordinance ratifies the Planning Board’s recommendation and authorizes the CUP under county zoning rules. No public opposition was recorded during the County Court’s discussion; no conditions beyond the CUP terms were read into the public record. The court did not attach additional reporting requirements to the approval during the meeting.
The project will proceed to implementation subject to the CUP terms and any federal approvals the applicant previously provided.
