Bellmawr recognizes Community Cat Club founder and proclaims April Child Abuse Prevention Month

Councilman Bill Evans presented a proclamation thanking Sarah Sharp for founding the Community Cat Club and for volunteer work focused on spay/neuter, education and assistance to reduce community-cat overpopulation. Mayor Charles Solder III and council members applauded the organization’s outreach.
Pamela Stalecup, senior director of development and communications for Prevent Child Abuse New Jersey, and Harvey Lurmac, board president, accepted a proclamation declaring April Child Abuse Prevention Month and explained the pinwheel symbol used to promote the cause. Stalecup described the coalition of families, professionals and community organizations that work on prevention and asked the public to recognize the month.
During the public-comment period, residents praised Sarah Sharp’s volunteer work. In her remarks, Sharp said the Community Cat Club helped “probably around 100 cats” from Bellmawr last year (her estimate), described the organization’s costs for spay/neuter and veterinary care and encouraged donations and supply drop-offs at borough hall.
What happens next: The proclamations are ceremonial recognitions; Prevent Child Abuse New Jersey and the Community Cat Club may continue outreach and solicit donations as described by speakers.
