The Decatur County Redevelopment Commission approved a reimbursement to Decatur County Parks and Recreation to cover an invoice for the new restroom building at the county sports complex. The reimbursement was approved by motion and voice vote at the meeting.
A staff member described the claim as “invoice number four from the building. This is the new session restroom building that’s going up out at the sports complex,” and said the work was “about 80% complete right now.” The speaker said the county paid a contractor temporarily from another parks budgeted item to keep work moving and that the requested $20,000 would reimburse Parks & Rec and the gifts-and-grants fund.
During discussion a commissioner suggested placing a plaque on the facility to acknowledge redevelopment-commission funding; participants agreed to explore that recognition. Commissioners also confirmed the auditor/clerk (Christie/Christy, named in the meeting) has been informed and that the payment will be handled as a reimbursement to the parks account.
A commissioner moved to approve the reimbursement and another seconded; the motion passed by voice vote.
The commission did not set a separate timeline for installing a plaque; the staff member said a final contractor invoice is expected by the end of next month, at which time project accounting will be completed.
