The Fairbanks North Star Borough School District board read and approved two proclamations during its March 17 meeting. Resolution 2026‑21 designates April 2026 as the Month of the Military Child across the district and encourages staff, students, families and community partners to observe the month with lessons, guest speakers and activities recognizing the unique challenges faced by military‑connected children.
Colonel Campbell read the resolution on the board’s behalf and emphasized the sacrifices of military families and the district’s role supporting consistent, equitable educational experiences for students who move frequently.
The board also adopted Resolution 2026‑22 recognizing April 2026 as School Library Month, celebrating librarians and library staff and encouraging celebrations and activities to honor library services and information literacy work in district schools. The resolution text highlights libraries’ role in teaching research skills, digital citizenship and fostering lifelong learning.
Both resolutions were read on the record during the meeting and approved by the board. Administration was asked to encourage district schools to plan appropriate observances and to coordinate recognition events.
