Superintendent Kyle said district leaders and Mason had previously arranged a designated ambulance for home varsity games at a total cost of about $2,400, with the county paying half and the district paying $1,200. He said the county commission declined in a recent follow-up and that emergency services staff cited staffing and rest needs as reasons not to guarantee on-site ambulances for every event.
Board members proposed drafting a letter to the county commission requesting periodic EMS presence at games when feasible, and discussed trade-offs (simultaneous emergency calls, staffing and costs). "If they tell them to be there, they'll be there," said Mr. Morris (a former county commissioner), describing where the public should direct the request.
Separately, a board member urged installing a fence or controlled gates around the newly completed track to prevent vehicles and all-terrain vehicles from damaging the surface. Members discussed whether maintenance or board action should drive fence installation and requested consideration of field access and egress for events.
No formal motion to mandate perpetual ambulance coverage or to approve fence expenditures was recorded; members asked administration to follow up and draft possible outreach to the county commission.
