Waterloo council approves several ordinances, emergency water interconnect and park easement

The Waterloo City Council on a series of roll‑call votes approved several ordinances and routine measures after favorable committee recommendations.
Ordinance No. 11927 was adopted to establish access control standards connected to a proposed north‑lane realignment and the Rose Lane extension, bringing the city language into alignment with county standards for parcels of five acres or more. Council members said the ordinance updates curb and access requirements for affected properties and that the ordinance had received a favorable committee recommendation.
The council also approved Ordinance No. 1928, the emergency interconnect agreement between the city water system and Illinois American (American Water Company). City staff said the interconnect has been under discussion for more than a year and that attorneys and staff had worked through prior drafts; the adopted version was described as the final product following committee review.
Council adopted Ordinance No. 1929 approving a grant easement with Spectrum to relocate an underground cable at Lake View Park; staff said the easement will be permanent and that the committee issued a favorable recommendation.
Other items approved by roll call included a special‑event permit for the Monroe County Farmers Market holiday market scheduled for Nov. 29, 2025, a nonprofit grant application recommended by committee, renewal of the city’s liability/workers‑compensation/cyber insurance with a modest premium increase, and an annual $100 merchandise voucher for full‑time employees.
