The Harford County Council approved Resolution 009‑26 on March 17, authorizing the county executive to file Harford Transit Link’s annual grant application with the Maryland Transit Administration for statewide special transportation assistance (SSTAP) and multiple formula and discretionary programs (including 5307). A transit official told the council the authorization is required for the county’s annual grant application and that some grants would reduce the county’s matching burden.
“ This authorizing resolution is a requirement of our annual grant application … with those we are reducing the county matching funds,” M. Richardson said during the presentation. Richardson explained that the MTA awards funds to subrecipients and that approving the resolution enables the county to submit the application within the agency’s timeline.
Councilmember Allegie asked whether there was any reason to hold the resolution; staff and members said there was no reason to delay and the motion was moved and seconded. The council approved the resolution with six votes in the affirmative and one absent, and the county executive will consider the final approval for submission to the MTA.
