The Torrance Education Foundation reported to the school board that it received a $421,000 grant from the Skechers Foundation, money the foundation said was raised through a district peer-to-peer walk.
"When I say we, the Torrance Education Foundation received a check from Skechers Foundation because of our involvement in peer-to-peer walk," President Fury told the board. He said the foundation has raised about $2 million over the superintendent's four-year tenure from the same event and that the funds support grants, scholarships and school programs across the district.
Fury reminded trustees of upcoming foundation events, including a May 2 fundraising celebration and the district's Invention Convention on March 29. He encouraged district volunteers and community partners to participate in fundraising and judging roles.
Board members thanked the foundation and highlighted the value of private support for maintaining free student participation in enrichment programs. No board action beyond the presentation was recorded.
