Town Manager presented the town's Cheshire Town Square newsletter and launched a new interactive online budget portal on March 10, intended to make departmental budgets and historic line‑item data more accessible to residents.
The portal includes an executive summary, departmental pages, five‑year comparisons and a downloadable line‑item budget book. Staff encouraged residents to subscribe via the town website's "notify me" feature and to use the portal to participate in upcoming budget hearings.
Separately, the council approved terms of an easement with the South Central Connecticut Regional Water Authority to allow installation of a dual‑function drinking water station (for people and pets) on the Farmington Canal Heritage Trail near the Stonebridge crossing; the town agreed to inspect, maintain, repair and replace the station as needed. Town staff supported the amenity as a benefit for trail users and approved the acceptance; the motion passed unanimously in the meeting record.
The town manager and staff asked residents to review the proposed budget in advance of scheduled hearings and to submit comments via the town manager's office or the portal's contact options.
