Fourth graders sing national anthem and receive poetry awards at Carmel Central board meeting

The Carmel Central Board meeting on March 10 included a celebratory opening: Matthew Patterson Elementary fourth‑grade chorus led the Pledge and performed the national anthem and school song.
Principal Jennifer Darling introduced music teacher Sydney Gaspar and the chorus, noting the school’s K–4 music program. The board later presented honorary medals to fourth graders whose poems were published in the Excellence 2025 poetry collection. Jacqueline Zulov, the students’ fourth‑grade teacher, described the class decision to submit poems as a collective effort and praised the students’ commitment and growth.
Board members called the student performance and the poetry recognition “one of the best parts of being on the board,” and invited students and families to the high‑school performances and other district events referenced during the meeting.
