Resident urges Boonton to remove debris and repair fencing at Pepe Field

"There's piles of cement right outside of the playground," resident Kim Maisy said, asking the town to clear the material because children have been seen climbing on it and the debris is unsightly. Maisy also told council the chain-link fence lacks a bottom rail in places, leaving gaps where people and dogs can get injured.
Mayor Lynch and council members said the town's director of public works was aware of the issue. Council and the DPW committee chair said debris removal should be a near-term fix; by contrast, replacing the fence will require budget discussion and a longer timeline. The DPW committee chair said the matter would be placed on the DPW agenda at the committee's next meeting.
The council invited Maisy to provide photos and the petition to staff; a council member said the petition and pictures would be reviewed and that the DPW would evaluate whether repair, replacement, or full removal of fencing is appropriate.
Next steps: DPW staff will assess and schedule debris removal; fence replacement or alternative remedies (including removal) will be discussed by the DPW committee and brought back to council depending on funding availability.
