Glen Ridge council adopts capital appropriation, approves bills and several resolutions; CDBG hearing set for December

Finance and Administration: Councilor Leovitz introduced Resolution 151-25 to authorize payment of bills from the current fund (an amount read into the record as approximately $5.691 million, with roughly $2.9 million to the board of education and $2.4 million to the county). The motion was seconded and approved by roll call (six yes, no nays).
Tax refunds: Councilor Leovitz moved Resolution 152-25 to authorize refunds where mortgage companies or title agencies paid property tax overpayments. The council approved the motion unanimously.
Personnel ordinance: Councilor Leovitz presented Ordinance 1830 for first reading, an ordinance establishing titles and setting maximum 2026 salaries for non-union and other borough employees. CDBG public hearing: The meeting included the first of two Community Development Block Grant hearings. Borough staff explained that Glen Ridge participates in an Essex County consortium for federal CDBG funds and often uses funds for ADA ramps tied to road work. No application was presented at this session; the borough expects to present its application at the December hearing.
