Beavercreek police honor officers and report high citizen satisfaction

Chief Lindsay told the council the department’s annual awards were presented March 11 and summarized results from Power Engage, a text-message citizen survey tool the department has used for three years. The chief said the city received a 36% response rate and an overall positive satisfaction rate above 96 percent, the highest scores the department has recorded for those categories.

The chief named individual recipients and units: Cynthia Pley (Green Optimist award, DARE officer), Olivia Zar (Knights of Columbus Blue Coat), the regional emergency response team (Miami Valley Crime Stoppers Unit of the Year), and officers and dispatchers who received letters of recognition. Officer Katie Gee received a department commendation after she aided residents during a neighborhood event, and Officer Joseph Desardens received a newly separated life‑saving award for helping an unconscious person and deploying an AED.

The chief also noted awards for OVI enforcement (an officer recorded 13 OVI arrests), long service (25 years: Captain Scott Molnar and Sergeant Brian Klene) and the COP volunteer team of the year, which logged a combined 668.5 volunteer hours. He framed the recognitions as examples of professionalism and community service and thanked council and citizens for their support.

Council members thanked the department and acknowledged the role tax revenues play in funding public safety staffing and training. The council did not take formal action related to staffing or budgets during the meeting; the presentation served as an informational update.
