Mayfield Heights council approves replacement service truck, stormwater MOUs and testing contract; authorizes bids for local road projects

Council unanimously authorized purchase of a replacement service truck (cab/chassis $67,930) and a sky-lift boom ($173,000), approved MOUs with Cuyahoga Soil & Water and NEORSD for EPA MS4 compliance, contracted IO Solutions for civil-service testing, and authorized bid solicitations for Washington Boulevard and Ridgeberry resurfacing.
At its March 9 meeting the Mayfield Heights City Council approved a set of resolutions and motions that included a vehicle purchase, stormwater program agreements and routine contracting to support city operations.
Council approved Resolution 2026-11 authorizing purchase from Rush Truck Center of a Ford F600 cab and chassis for the service department, amount not to exceed $67,930, and Resolution 2026-12 authorizing purchase of a sky-lift boom and related accessories from JDC Company in an amount not to exceed $173,000. City staff said the two purchases together constitute the replacement of an aging service truck used for street light and sign maintenance, holiday decorations and other service functions. City staff confirmed the combined cost for the replacement unit is approximately $240,930; earlier staff memos referenced an upper figure but council clarified the two-resolutions package covers the chassis and boom as two vendor purchases.
The council also approved Resolution 2026-13 authorizing an MOU with the Cuyahoga Soil and Water Conservation District to support conservation and stormwater pollution prevention, and Resolution 2026-14 authorizing a related MOU with Cuyahoga Soil & Water and the Northeast Ohio Regional Sewer District to provide technical support required by the Ohio EPA MS4 general permit (public education, construction-site review and post-construction inspections). Council said one of the control-measure services (public education/outreach) is reimbursable by the sewer district; construction-review services are not reimbursable.
Additionally, council approved Resolution 2026-15 to contract with IO Solutions for professional civil-service promotional testing services for police lieutenant and sergeant exams.
On routine infrastructure planning, council authorized solicitation of bids for the Washington Boulevard improvement project and for Ridgeberry Boulevard resurfacing (shared cost where Highland Heights will cover its half). All items passed by roll call vote under a blanket suspension of rules for emergency consideration.
