Upper Darby board recognized student achievements across athletics, science and the arts

At the May 13 meeting Superintendent Daniel McGary and board members recognized dozens of students for athletic records, all-central league honors, science fair awards (qualifying some for Regeneron), PMEA musical awards and a Widener University leadership scholarship.
The board recognized a wide array of student achievements. Superintendent Dr. Daniel McGary highlighted athletic accomplishments, including new school records and placements at state and national meets; he named Joshua Sharp for new school records in the 800 meters and the 400 meter outdoor time, and acknowledged relay teams and multiple all-central league selections.
Academic recognitions included winners of the Delaware County Science Fair with several students qualifying for the Regeneron International Science and Engineering Fair and junior competitions. The board noted projects ranging from behavioral science studies to machine-learning approaches for detecting solar flares. District students also earned PMEA music honors and spots in county-level honors ensembles.
The meeting noted a Widener University High School Leadership Award scholarship recipient and multiple regional history-day and national competition placings. Board members and administration congratulated students and invited families and community members to celebrate at upcoming ceremonies.
