Drexel Hill Middle School students stage 'Beauty and the Beast Jr.' and showcase student-run tech

Drexel Hill Middle School Principal Jill Paladino presented the board with highlights from the school's theater program and the recent production of Beauty and the Beast Jr., saying 72 students in grades 6—8 participated in this year's shows.
Paladino and student performers described a busy tech week of lighting, microphones, set cues and costume changes that required coordinating student crew and cast. One student described the hands-on learning: "Tech week actually started today," and members of the student crew said operating lighting and sound expanded their technical skills. A student performer reflected on the experience of dressing for the show: "As soon as I stepped into this costume, I'm like, 'Wow, it's like really happening.'"
The school thanked the board for facility investments that supported theater upgrades and handed small tokensa signature rose and a student-designed production shirtto board members.
