Westbrook Park principal highlights summer renovations, thanks district staff and board

Principal Mark Comfort and Assistant Principal Cameron Bush presented the board with an overview of summer renovations at Westbrook Park Elementary, saying the work has "greatly improved the learning environment for our students and staff." The principals thanked district facilities staff and board members for supporting the project.

Assistant Principal Cameron Bush described the scope: "The renovations completed last summer included new ceiling tiles, freshly painted classrooms, upgraded lighting throughout the entire building to improve visibility and energy efficiency, new HVAC in the K, fourth, and fifth grade hallway along with the library, new ceiling fans in the non-air conditioned parts of the building, upgraded light switches, new matching desks and chairs." School staff said these features made classrooms brighter, more consistent and more comfortable for students.

Teachers recalled dated finishes and mismatched furniture before the project and said the quick contractor turnaround required packing classrooms and relocating materials during a brief window after the school year ended. Several staff members emphasized small operational changesfor example, new panel light switches and working ceiling fanshave made daily classroom management easier: "In my room, being able to turn the fans on and the lights off was a big deal," one teacher said.

Principal Comfort noted additional work planned for the coming months, including new floors, and thanked individual district staff and board members for their roles in the project. He also extended best wishes to Mr. Tim Leaf on his upcoming retirement, which the speakers acknowledged during their remarks.

The board received the presentation as an update; no vote or budget action was taken at the meeting on Westbrook Park-specific funding.
