Staff said the majority of the corridor is in the county right-of-way, and that some property owners have town pathway easements on their parcels.
Residents described a history of conflict between a homeowner (the McReynolds family) and a regular cyclist; one resident said the homeowner's attempt to confront the cyclist escalated the dispute. Committee members discussed options ranging from signage and outreach to asking the council to formally designate the segment as a pathway with bicycle restrictions or to remove the easement on the private drive.
Committee members agreed more resident input is needed. The chair directed staff to put a Chaparral item on the next meeting agenda, to notice affected property owners and to provide space for public comment before the committee makes a formal recommendation to the council.
