The Royal Palm Beach Education Advisory Board convened March 9, 2026, for updates from school leaders, a student council report and routine board business.
After HL Johnson’s presentation, Miss Green delivered central-region elementary updates: Cypress Trails celebrated reading and math goal achievements, SECME participation and announced an April 1 SAC meeting; Royal Palm Beach Elementary (Principal Tracy Getty) held Read for the Record and participated in the Autism Empowerment Walk and will hold its next SAC meeting March 25.
District and school highlights included Crestwood Middle School’s robotics team (second-highest middle-school ranking and seventh overall) and an awarded superior rating for the chorus; Royal Palm Beach Community High School reported a senior cap-decorating day and a successful college and career fair. A village-wide kindergarten kickoff schedule for Royal Palm Beach was shared to drive early enrollment.
A school board member praised HL Johnson and student leadership, relayed greetings from Superintendent Michael Burke and framed upcoming community outreach around a district referendum (noted as a November ballot item) that supports arts, PE and other local priorities. The speaker emphasized the role local referendum funding has played in maintaining arts and safety programs in district schools.
The student council representative outlined a faculty “Room to Breathe” initiative to create a better teacher lounge and reported a $2,000 SAC request to buy supplies (coffee machine, paintings, mini fridges). Student council members also reviewed recent and upcoming events including the Future Makers Forum, FASC conference attendance, an upcoming pep rally (March 12) and student council election timeline in April.
Procedural business: the board moved to approve the minutes of the Feb. 9, 2026 Education Advisory Board meeting; the motion was seconded and recorded as passed. The next Education Advisory Board meeting was announced for Monday, May 11, 2026, and a motion to adjourn was made, seconded and passed.
