Midterm suggestions include retaining‑wall repair and reconfiguration of upper drop‑off circulation (paving and widening adjacent to the tipping floor). Long‑term items include bringing 480‑volt three‑phase electrical service from Route 12 into the site (a costly extension), emergency power replacement and roof replacement.
Staff emphasized that some lower‑cost measures (electronic payment, paving of upper areas) could be advanced sooner while larger items are staged in CIP years. The committee accepted the assessment unanimously.
What happens next: staff will use the report’s cost ranges to prioritize items in the upcoming CIP and consider near‑term steps such as electronic payment implementation and targeted mechanical upgrades to improve employee work conditions.
