Stakeholders select Measure BP logo and approve $200,000 yearly programming for Susan Rubio Soalo Park

At its March 10, 2026 meeting the Baldwin Park Stakeholders Oversight Committee approved two non-budget motions: the committee selected option B (with an added check mark) as the official Measure BP logo for promotional materials, and members also unanimously approved a staff request to provide $200,000 per fiscal year for programming, events and maintenance at Susan Rubio Soalo Park.

During the logo discussion staff showed options A, B and D and asked for member preference; several members explicitly favored the B design with a check mark and the committee moved, seconded and approved that selection for use on flyers, social media and promotional materials.

On the Susan Rubio Soalo Park funding request staff said the park has hosted more than 80 events with roughly 3,700 participants since opening in September 2024 and described recurring programs such as Kids Club, Art in the Park, Twilight Tunes and Familia Fridays. Staff told the committee the prior $200,000 allocation has been exhausted; members moved and seconded a motion to refill the programming fund at $200,000 per fiscal year and the motion passed unanimously. Staff said a portion of the funds will cover ongoing maintenance — landscaping, cleaning, repairs, fencing and equipment — and that staff will return next year with an update on usage and any carryover balances.

Other routine business included approval of the January 13, 2026 minutes (unanimous) and committee requests to receive regular updates on stalled projects such as the sports complex and bus shelter improvements; staff acknowledged capacity constraints and said it would schedule follow-up updates.
