Budget adoption: The board adopted a revised 2025–26 budget required after the state budget’s finalization. The revision adds $799,000 for transitional kindergarten implementation (to support required staffing ratios) and about $2.98 million in restricted funds for the learning-recovery block grant and the professional-development discretionary block grant. Staff said there were no changes to planned expenditures in the draft before the board, though collective bargaining was still pending.
Contracts and procurement: The board approved a two-year contract with Christy White Associates to conduct Measure S bond audits for the 2024–25 and 2025–26 years. The board also approved placing Corey Engineering & Testing and Twining Consultants on the district’s pre-qualified list for materials testing and inspection (RFQ2025-06) and approved Placeworks, Inc. and Pacifica Services, Inc. for the district’s pre-qualified CEQA services list (RFQ2025-07).
MOUs and program agreements: The board approved a memorandum of understanding to amend full-day kindergarten implementation terms with the Redondo Beach Teachers Association and an MOU addressing special education that establishes a committee process to develop solutions ahead of bargaining. The board also approved a clinical practicum agreement with West Coast University to place speech and language-pathology candidates in district sites.
The board approved these items on voice votes during the action session. Staff said the revised budget and procurement decisions were posted on the district website for public review.
