Board approves three administrative hires and ratifies superintendent contract amendment

The Redondo Beach Unified School District board on July 29 announced and approved multiple personnel actions including site and leadership appointments and ratification of a revised superintendent contract.
Appointments: The board voted to appoint Gary Gregory as assistant principal at Washington Elementary, Melissa Coughlin as Director I in Special Education, and Jeff Watts as assistant principal at Redondo Union High School. Each appointee’s professional background and qualifications were read into the record; trustees welcomed the new administrators. The board recorded the appointment votes as unanimous in the close-session report and publicly introduced the new leaders as part of the superintendent’s report.
Superintendent contract amendment: The board ratified an amendment to Superintendent Dr. Nicole Wesley’s employment agreement that extends her contract for four years from July 1, 2025 through June 30, 2029. The amendment includes clarified work-year language, optional vacation cash-out and indemnity language, and a 4% annual salary increase effective July 1, 2026 contingent on a satisfactory performance evaluation. The board approved the amendment by recorded vote and the amended contract will be available to the public upon request.
Next steps: The district will make the ratified contract available upon request and continue onboarding the newly appointed administrators ahead of the school year.
