Committee updates Heritage House, digital archives and June 'Our Town' content

Los Altos Hills’ History Committee received progress updates on the Heritage House renovation, digital archives and the upcoming issue of the town magazine Our Town.

Committee members reported that the Heritage House renovation is nearly finished and that a preview for committee volunteers will be scheduled once contractors are not working. Chair (Chair (S2)) said, “I think the Heritage House is actually gonna be finished in a few weeks,” and volunteers discussed furniture placement, cabinet installation and fabric options for cushions.

A committee member (Committee member (S3)) explained interior details: photos provided to the group did not include the cabinet; the committee has acquired two chairs and is awaiting a table delivery. She said a quote of about $1,200 was received for two cushions from one vendor but the committee expects it can be done for less and will explore local upholsterers.

On archival work, a committee member (Committee member (S6)) said he has added a recent historic report on the water tower to the digital archive and will consolidate other documents for the team that publishes them.

Planning for the June Our Town issue also advanced: members identified candidate pieces (heritage house coverage, pathway safety, a town budget article, oral histories including Thomas McReynolds and features on Maryknoll and the O’Brien family) and discussed article lengths and editorial workflow. The committee agreed to compile a prioritized list of candidate articles for staff and the editor.

Next steps: schedule a Heritage House preview when contractors are not present, collect cost estimates for cushions and the front‑room table, finalize an Our Town article list, and continue adding verified materials to the digital archive.
