As of the May 1 meeting they had obtained responses from 108 permit holders representing about $900,000; staff processed reimbursements or adjustments for $802,000, with 12 additional claims in progress totaling about $98,000. Forty‑one permit holders had yet to respond, representing an outstanding exposure of roughly $273,000.
Staff described two rounds of certified mail and subsequent follow‑up calls to update addresses and re‑send notices where initial mailings were returned. Committee members noted the deadline (April 16) and requested staff continue follow‑up to close outstanding claims. The committee also discussed uses for unclaimed funds and noted state rules can reclassify unclaimed local funds in some circumstances.
Next steps: staff will continue outreach to the outstanding permit holders and include an implementation update at the next FIC meeting.
