Silicon Valley Clean Energy’s mobile “dream home” to appear at town picnic, committee is arranging site and security

Anand, a member of the EIC, told the committee that Silicon Valley Clean Energy (SBCE) has offered to bring a mobile "dream home" exhibition to the town picnic to show residents how to electrify household appliances. "Get rid of your gas appliances — electrify. That's the only way we can solve climate change," Anand said, describing the exhibit as an educational tool for heat pumps, electric water heaters and whole-home electrification.

A Silicon Valley Clean Energy representative described the mobile unit as a traveling demonstration intended to answer common customer questions like "how big is a heat pump water heater?" and to let residents see appliances at scale. "Silicon Valley Clean Energy was formed by local communities to help reduce emissions," the presenter said, adding the unit is transported to fairs and community events and can be set up on a vehicle foundation.

Committee members focused on logistics: where to place the exhibit, how to meet SBCE’s foundation requirements, and how to keep handicap parking and fire-truck access clear. One committee member noted the unit needs a solid foundation and suggested parking-lot placement for mobility and accessibility. The group asked Cody (staff) to inspect the proposed skinny parking area behind the booths and return a more detailed map for SBCE.

Security and setup were also discussed: SBCE asked about night-before setup and requested options for on-site security; the committee noted the unit can be locked, could be watched overnight, and that temporary motion lights or cameras were possibilities. The committee agreed to finalize placement only after staff confirms exact handicap spaces and fire access and sends the map back to SBCE.

Next steps: staff will survey the suggested parking area and send a placement map to SBCE; the exhibit will proceed if parking, access and security concerns can be satisfied.
